Privacy policy

This is a plain-language starting draft. Have it reviewed against the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 before relying on it.

What we collect

When you place an order we collect your name, telephone number, optional email address, delivery address if you choose delivery, any notes you add, and the contents of your order. If you pay by mobile money we use the mobile money number you provide to send the payment request.

What we do not collect

We never see or store card numbers, CVV codes or PINs. Card and mobile money payments are handled by our bank's merchant payment service. You do not need an account to order.

Optional accounts

If you choose to register, we also keep your email address, a protected (hashed) form of your password, and, for a business account, the business name and tax number you give us. Your account shows you your own orders. Contact us if you would like your account closed.

How we use it

We use your details only to process, deliver and account for your order, to contact you about it, and to meet our legal and tax record-keeping obligations. We do not sell your information.

Cookies

This website uses only essential cookies: one to remember your shopping cart and one to protect forms from misuse. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we measure visits

To improve the shop we count visits anonymously: which pages are opened, which buttons are pressed, which website a visitor arrived from, and the kind of device. We do this without cookies and without recording your name, your IP address or anything that identifies you. The measurement lasts only while the browser tab is open, so we cannot recognise you on a later visit, and it is not linked to your order. Records are deleted after six months. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, nothing is recorded at all.

Your choices

You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to records we must keep by law. Contact us on +256 783 855 403 or ruftasesameoil@gmail.com.
